A perfect example is the OPI Alice in Wonderland Collection. I've posted about one of the polishes in it, Absolutely Alice, before. There are four polishes in total in this collection, two glitters and two reds. The reds are the usual run of the mill OPI colours but the glitters really got the polish world talking. OPI promptly discontinued this collection and the two glitters, Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter, became HTF. I was lucky enough to get my hands on Mad as a Hatter in a blog sale recently. I paid an obscene amount of money for it even though it didn't really catch my eye in swatches. But because of my whole "own all the HTFs" obsession, I had to have it.
So here is my Alice in Wonderland mani - 3 coats of Mad as a Hatter with top coat, and 3 coats of Absolutely Alice with top coat as an accent nail.
To be completely honest, MaaH still isn't really doing it for me but at least I can look at that bottle in my collection and feel a sense of contentment. Do you ever feel the same way about nail polish, or any other obsessions?

ReplyDeleteI bought a back-up of it last year and got a counterfeit bottle (I was in tears as soon as it arrived). I compared it with the bottle I purchased from Petra (authorised seller) and it was completely different, as in size of the glitter, colour, smell, printing on bottle, how opaque it was.
I posted about it on my blog, but OPI Australia asked for it to be removed. After sending the bottle into them, they said it wasn't counterfeit (they made a claim about "glitter polish cannot be consistant amongst bottles and my bottle happened to get smaller bits of glitter of one sets of colours and the other bottle got larger bits of glitter of another set of colour, and as the glitter is churning they can't control how much goes in each bottle and in what amount"), but OPI USA said it was a counterfeit.
Oh no, that's such a shame! I hate that people can get away with selling fake nail polish. They're usually so easy to spot too, who do they think they're fooling? Also, how annoying of OPI Australia to ask you to remove your post! It's not like it's a big secret that there are counterfeit OPIs out there.
