Inspired by Shoes of Prey: Take Two

After my last "Inspired by Shoes of Prey" post, I was approached by Shoes of Prey to do a few more inspired-by manis. Today's one is based on this amazing pair of glittery red pumps.

I could have been really lazy and just done a full mani of Essie Ruby Slippers/China Glaze Ruby Pumps... But I know I wouldn't have gotten away with that! So here is my striped nail art interpretation, using OPI Red, OPI Matte Top Coat and Butter London Chancer.

I spent way too long thinking about this - OPI Red is the actual name of the polish. So do I go with my usual format of "brand, name" like OPI Keys to my Karma, which would result in OPI OPI Red? Or just OPI Red? What a dilemma!

These shoes are $199 including shipping from Shoes of Prey, and you can even customise it. I really like this black version with red trim - like reverse Louboutins!

Stay tuned for another Shoes of Prey inspired mani coming up!

I was not compensated for this post in any way, and all opinions expressed are my own. For more information, see Disclosure Policy.

Disney Princess Challenge: Jasmine

I'm taking part in another nail art challenge! I love these challenges because they're fun and motivate me to try new things. Sometimes I have trouble with inspiration so these definitely help. It's also exciting to see the designs the other girls come up with on reveal day!

This one is the Disney Princess Nail Art Challenge, put together by Bec from Lacquer Dreams. As a diehard Disney fan, of course I have to take part in this! There was a lot of debate over who the official Disney Princesses are, and why some are included and some aren't (and why everyone is in a pretty poofy dress except for the ethnic girls!), but this is what we will be doing every Saturday for the next 2 months:

Today's theme is Jasmine from Aladdin. I had a set of Disney towels when I was younger (I may or may not still own said towels...) and Jasmine was my favourite. I think it might have been because I related most to her, with her long black hair - kind of in the same way that I preferred the Lion King 2 over the original because the protagonist was a girl. I have no idea why I didn't relate more to Mulan because she's Chinese. I guess I just liked the romance of owning a pet tiger and riding on a flying carpet with a man who's just stumbled across a huge stash of money, rather than pretending to be a man and fighting Mongolians.

I chose to do a taped chevron inspired by her headband. The blue is Sportsgirl Lagoon. I did the accent nail with one coat of Essie Shine of the Times, and OPI Goldeneye sponged in a gradient over the top. I really love the luxe, antique look of these gold flecks, after doing a similar look here.

March Nail Art Challenge: Gradient & Aussie Nails Monday: Stripes

I'm late for both of these so I combined them into one mani. I've seen this design doing the rounds on Instagram lately, originally inspired by @sparrownails and @nailsofjessiek. I was planning on doing a different colour combo so as not to completely copy them, but I just love blues so much! So I ended up using OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It for the base, Ulta3 Spring Shower, OPI Fly and China Glaze Man Hunt for the gradient.

Here are the other girls participating in Aussie Nails Monday:

In "things I have wasted my money on recently" news, I impulse bought these Black Milk Black Triangle Leggings and Blue Galaxy Swimsuit. I regret nothing. I never actually understood the hype about Black Milk, and leggings in general, until I tried these. The swimsuit is so flattering, and the leggings make my legs look a million miles long. I don't care if people say that leggings are not pants, I will wear these as pants and look kickass!
