Hare Polish Dauphine of Decadence

Just a quickie today - things have been super busy at work this week and I'm packing my bags for my trip to the Gold Coast.

This is Hare Polish Dauphine of Decadence, a delicate mix of gold and mint green glitter in a clear base. I absolutely love this polish. I think I might like it even more than Essence Make It Golden, my current favourite gold glitter.

I've layered it over Butter London Alcopop here. The accent nail is 3 dabbled coats of Dauphine of Decadence on its own, reaching nearly complete opacity.

What do you think of this colour combination? Do you love it as much as I do?

Aussie Nails Monday: Green

Today's Aussie Nails Monday theme is Green. I've only recently started exploring this great, untapped colour range, and I'm pleased to say that I'm really liking it.

I started with a base of American Apparel Army Jacket, a nice military green. I topped this with a gradient of Pretty Serious Liquid Leprechaun. I used the cotton bud method, but I think the base of Liquid Leprechaun is a bit too pigmented, so you can see it's a bit splotchy and not a smooth gradient. I finished it with a coat of OPI Matte Top Coat.

Disney Princess Challenge: Cinderella

Today's Disney Princess Challenge theme is Cinderella. At last weekend's Aussie Nails meetup the lovely Jen from The Nail Polish Project surprised me with the Sephora exclusive Cinderella collection, which we can't get here in Australia. So obviously, I had to use it for this challenge.

I used a base of So Totally Enchanted, a silvery-blue that matches Cinderella's dress at the ball. The colour of the dress kept changing through the movie though, sometimes it was silver and sometimes it was definitely blue. Weird. The glitter is Step Off, Sister! I really like this combination of blue and silver.

Aussie Nails Monday: Blue & March Nail Art Challenge: Sparkles

This week's Aussie Nails Monday theme is Blue. Blue is my favourite (nail polish) colour so I was spoilt for choice with this theme! However, I wasn't spoilt for time, so I had to choose a quick and simple design. Today's March Nail Art Challenge theme just happens to be Sparkles, so what better way to combine the two than with a glitter gradient?

I used Essie Bikini So Teeny and Nails Inc Upper Brook Street as the undies. The glitter is Nails Inc Royal Arcade. The blue is pretty similar to Ulta3 New Years Eve, but it has a lot more different sizes, and it's extremely dense. I actually had trouble spreading it out enough to make a gradient!

Side note: How awesome is that crystal cap on Upper Brook Street??

And of course I had to mattify it. I love the look of glitter under a matte top coat.

Bestie Twin Nails with Labmuffin

Bestie Twin Nails is a theme that's been fairly popular on Instagram lately. Basically you pair up with your "bestie" and do matching nails. There have been some really inspirational twin nails created, and it looked like  fun, so I paired up with Michelle from Labmuffin to do our own! Luckily we're both control freaks so we tried to co-ordinate as much as possible.

For the dotted gradients, we used a base of Ulta3 Blue Marlin and dots of Ulta3 Lily White and Gold Rush Fever. The glitter gradient is Essence Make It Golden.

I really enjoyed doing these and I think they turned out great! It took a while for us to figure out which polishes we had in common, and then figure out what colour combination and nail art we both liked. Doing this also makes me grateful for the friends I've made and people I've met through nail polish. The Aussie Nails facebook group is one of the friendliest groups of people I've ever met, and I'm so glad to be a part of it.

Ok, end mushy stuff. Check out #bestietwinnails on Instagram to see all the other cool matching manis!

March Nail Art Challenge: Colour Block and Luck

Double whammy today! Instead of combining two themes into one mani like yesterday, I'm just posting two nail art designs in one post.

First up is my mani for the Colour Block theme. I really should be using tape to make it less wobbly, but I'm too impatient. I used Butter London Macbeth, Ulta3 Earl Grey and Chanel Blue Rebel. I'm actually in love with this combination of colours. Blue Rebel is the perfect one coater navy, rich but subdued. Also, Y U SHRINK SO MUCH SECHE VITE? *shakes fist* This photo was taken within an hour of applying top coat and you can already see an unacceptable level of shrinkage.

For the Luck theme, I chose to feature Ulta3 Luck of the Irish as a glitter gradient along with I Love Nail Polish (or I <3 NP) Ginger Spice Latte, over Essie Navigate Her. Now that I've combined green and gold, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do for the St Patrick's Day theme...

If you follow me on Instagram, or know me in real life, you may know that I saw The Prodigy live last week. I've seen them live before but I never tire of their incredible energy. Even though the entire concert was an exercise in getting elbowed in the face, it was awesome. The support act was Borgore, who admittedly I had never heard of before, apart from this one song:

Again, if you know me in real life at all, you will know that I love cake (and dessert of any kind, really). And that I also hate to share. I suppose that trait is a product of my only child upbringing. I refuse to share any food, even when I order meals that are obviously way too big for me to just eat myself. I mean, I'm fine with letting people take a couple of bites. But I absolutely detest splitting a meal with anyone, especially my boyfriend, whose definition of "taking a sip" is inhaling most of your drink. So when I heard this song, I thought, "This is my life song. Someone has finally written a song about me!"

Combined with this hilarious Hyperbole and a Half comic, I feel it sums up my existence perfectly.

Aussie Nails Monday - Glitter

I can't believe it's already been a week since I last posted! And I missed Monday so I'm just going to have to post this Aussie Nails Monday mani a day late... Oops! I didn't want to miss it completely though because this week's theme is Glitter, and I glitter is my absolute vice when it comes to nail polish. What can I say... I'm like a magpie, I love anything that sparkles!

I decided to create a glitter gradient mani using Essie Dive Bar as the base coat, and OPI Last Friday Night, BYS Diamond Glitter Aquamarine and a random old silver glitter I have in my stash. It didn't turn out as gradient-y as I'd hoped, but I still like the end result.
